Local resources
Here are some local resources available to help if needed or that you can support during these trying times:
Meals on Wheels
Barrington Area Council on Aging (BACOA) offers a Meals with Wheels program that provides a hot, nutritious meal to older adults who are unable to prepare meals for themselves either due to poor health or low income. Participants can also receive meals on a short-term basis after a hospitalization or rehab stay. Deliveries are made by local organizations and volunteers.
For more information and to conduct a brief assessment over the phone please call BACOA at 847-381-5030.
Food Pantry Donations
Both Barrington Township and Cuba Township are accepting donations for their food pantries
Barrington Township has a donation bin for nonperishable items outside their building. If you wish to contribute, call the township office at 847-381-5632 before dropping off so that someone can be there. Also very helpful: donations of gift cards or checks. The office is currently closed but these donations can be mailed to Barrington Township at 602 S. Hough St., Barrington, IL 60010.
Cuba Township also has a donation bin outside its offices at 28000 Cuba Rd., Barrington, during business hours. Nonperishable items are welcome, especially adult diapers (L / XL), cleaning supplies, cereal, rice, broth, and canned fruits. Gift cards to Jewel or Walmart are also welcome.
